Batman JUKE Rolls into Hands of Welsh Baker in the UK

Carmarthen residents were amazed to see the famous Tumbler drive through their town with Nissan's Dark Knight Rises™ Juke NISMO following just behind it. Bringing some big screen drama to west Wales, the two cars then took pride of place in front of Carmarthen Castle where the keys to the unique Juke were given to competition winner, Adam Williams.
Self-confessed action film fan and local baker, Mr. Williams bagged the Dark Knight Rises™ Juke NISMO after taking Nissan's Thrill Test. He said:  "I can't believe I've won this fantastic car. It was the biggest surprise of my life and I was so excited to take delivery of it. I'll certainly turn a few heads driving around Carmarthen. It's great to think I'm the only person in the world with my very own version of the Batmobile!"

Produced to celebrate Nissan's partnership with Warner Bros and the release of the third film in Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy on DVD and Blu-Ray, the Dark Knight Rises™ Juke NISMO features a host of Batman-inspired details making it the envy of every movie fan and car buff.

Based on the new Juke NISMO, The Dark Knight Rises™ Juke NISMO features the same 1.6-liter turbocharged engine driving the front wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox - giving it a 0-62 mph time of 7.8 seconds - as well as a NISMO body kit, uprated suspension and enhanced interior. But in addition, it has a whole host of Batman-inspired details that will make Adam Williams feel just like Bruce Wayne.

Matte black paint gives a menacing look reminiscent of the on-screen Tumbler, while a shark fin antenna replaces the standard car's conventional aerial. In addition to NISMO badging, there are aluminum Bat badges on the front grille and tailgate while the unique gloss black 18-inch alloy wheels include bespoke red detailing, matching the eye-catching pinstripe on the bumpers and sills of the standard Juke NISMO.

Open the door and you're greeted by Bat logos on the kickplates and reflective Bat badges on the headrests of the suede-trimmed NISMO sports seats. Thanks to down lighters mounted under the door mirrors the famous Bat signal can be projected onto the floor area around the doors. A clever uplighter projects the same signal onto the black headlining inside too.

The Dark Knight Rises™ Juke NISMO was the work of Nissan's very own Batcave - Nissan Design Europe, based in London's Paddington, the same studio responsible for the design of the original Juke.

Since going on sale in January 2013, the Juke NISMO - Nissan's first NISMO model for Europe - has outstripped expectations. "We're not even halfway through the year and we're already well ahead of our target, having sold nearly 600 cars," said Juke product manager, Jon Davies. "That's a fantastic achievement and proof that buyers love the Juke NISMO's combination of accessible performance, stylish looks and generous equipment."

We received a 5-star review on Yelp!

"I purchased my vehicle through another dealership 2012 Versa (used).  I had originally taken it to Miller Nissan (Van Nuys) which was a HUGE mistake.  I had a couple minor things that should have been warrantied and they said they were not.  I got my car back and they said everything was perfect.  I said I would never revisit Miller Nissan, because of this terrible experience.  I needed an oil change and took my car to Universal City Nissan.  David Simone who assisted me, was AMAZING!!!!! I told him I had heard some noises coming from the engine, and that I was smelling something while driving.  He said the car would be checked everywhere, and assured me they would find whatever was wrong with it and replace it.  I got a rent a car, and was on my way.  He followed up with me, regarding the situation, and 7 days later I had my car back.  It had a rod in the engine that had to be replaced, my front struts were bad, and a couple of other minor repair things that Miller Nissan did not want to cover, were fixed as well.  David was wonderful! my warranty will be running out very soon, and I had just purchased this vehicle in February, If I had not taken my vehicle to David at Universal City Nissan, I would have had some very expensive repair work to have done on a vehicle that I just purchased.  I very very disapointed with Miller Nissan and the way they conducted themselves, they acted very rudly and were not willing to perform any warranty work.  They also seemed rude because of the fact I did not purchase my vehicle with them.  I purchased a special order part because they were not willing to cover it under warranty, and now Im unable to get my money back because it was "special order."  When I took it to David, it came back with the part installed, for no charge, and I had not even mentioned it to him that I wanted it warrantied.  They survey came to me in the mail regarding Miller Nissan, and I was so upset with their service I threw it in the garbage.  Because of the WONDERFUL experience I had with Universal I'm writing to you about both of my experiences.  I have owned several Nissans, and have an Xterra as well, and will bring my vehicles to David, as long as I have them.  He was outstanding! Although I'm a bit upset at the fact that my practically brand new car, needed a a rod replaced in the engine, I think I would still consider Nissan in the future." -- Tanya R.

Nissan NV200 puts on a Bowtie as new Chevy City Express

Your eyes do not deceive you – that is, in fact, a Nissan NV200 work van with Chevrolet badging.  The new van, called the City Express, is expected to go on sale in the fall of 2014.

"Our fleet customers have asked us for an entry in the commercial small van segment, so this addition to the Chevrolet portfolio will strengthen our position with fleets and our commercial customers," Ed Peper, US vice president of GM fleet and commercial sales, said in a press release.

No details have been released regarding specific changes for the new City Express, though from the images released today, it's clear that the vehicle's front fascia has been reworked, and some super-sexy new wheel covers have been added. If we're honest, the NV200 wasn't all that pretty to begin with, and this, well, isn't any better. Not that looks are of primary concern in the commercial truck business, of course.

Nissan already sells the NV200 in several global markets; it has even been selected as the New York City Taxi of Tomorrow. Pricing for the new City Express will be revealed closer to the van's launch, and we'll be curious to see how it lines up with the NV200's numbers. Either way, we think this has all the signs of a win-win for both companies – Nissan has the capacity and Chevy has a pretty pronounced need for modern commercial vans.

Nissan LEAF Earns "Top Safety Pick" from IIHS

Now in its third model year, the highly innovative, industry-leading Nissan LEAF pure electric vehicle added another award to its trophy case with the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) "Top Safety Pick" designation, which recognizes vehicles for excellent performance in four passenger safety tests.

The LEAF achieved the Institute’s highest rating of “Good” in front, side, rollover and rear crash tests. Nissan LEAF joins Nissan Altima and Infiniti M37/M56 on the list of 2013 Top Safety Picks.
"Driver and passenger safety are top priorities for Nissan and the 'Top Safety Pick’ designation by IIHS reflects the design and innovation that have gone into this car to make it a practical, no-compromise electric vehicle," said Erik Gottfried, Nissan’s director of electric vehicle sales and marketing. “The new, U.S.-assembled 2013 Nissan LEAF provides customers with a remarkable level of value, comfort and security at prices competitive with gas-powered cars in a fun-to-drive package."

Standard 2013 LEAF safety systems include Nissan Advanced Air Bag System (AABS) with dual-stage supplemental front air bags with seat belt sensors and occupant classification sensor, front seat-mounted side impact supplemental air bags, roof-mounted curtain side impact supplemental air bags for front and rear-seat outboard occupant head protection, 3-point ALR/ELR seat belts (driver's seat ELR only) with pretensioners and load limiters, child seat upper tether anchor, LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) system and child safety rear door locks. Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) and Traction Control System (TCS) are also standard on all LEAF models.

“The IIHS 'Top Safety Pick’ recognition speaks to the ‘zone body construction’ design from Nissan’s Safety Shield Concept to help protect occupants in a wide variety of crash scenarios,” said Robert Yakushi, Nissan director of product safety.

Monday Maintenance Tip!

1. Start your vehicle and warm-up the engine. Oil contaminants will drain more easily from a warm engine.
2. Park your vehicle on a solid level surface, turn off the engine and set the parking brake. Driving the vehicle on ramps or lifting the front of the vehicle may be necessary, to change the engine oil, if the vehicle ground clearance is too low.
3. Open the hood and locate the engine oil fill cap.
4. Remove the engine oil fill cap. This will allow the dirty oil to drain quicker.
5. Place a drain pan under the oil drain plug located below the engine. Remove the oil drain plug.
6. Completely drain the dirty oil into the drain pan.
7. Install the oil drain plug with a new gasket. Tighten the drain plug to the manufacturer's specifications.
8. Place a drain pan under the oil filter and remove the filter using an oil filter wrench. Make sure the gasket comes off with the filter. Wipe off the gasket mounting surface with a clean towel.
9. Apply a light film of clean oil on the new oil filter gasket. Install the new oil filter by hand. Tighten the filter 3/4 to 1 turn after the gasket makes contact.
10. Add the proper amount and type of engine oil. Refer to your vehicle owner's manual for the engine oil capacity and recommended type.
11. Check the oil level with the engine oil dipstick. The oil level should be above the full mark. This is normal because the oil has not entered the filter yet.
12. Install the engine oil fill cap and start the engine. Check for any leaks.
13. Turn off the engine and recheck the engine oil level.
14. Dispose of your used oil properly. Do not dump it on the ground or down a storm sewer drain.
